NCBAHM 15 PDAs (AOM-CH)
This is a 15 PDAs course that deals with Chinese herbs that drain downwards. We discuss what downward draining herbs do. The 3 groups of downward draining herbs: purgatives, moist laxatives, and harsh expellants (cathartics). Characteristics of each herb in this specific group based on pharmaceutical name, family name, standard species, English, Japanese, Korean names, properties, channels entered, main characteristics, dosage, cautions and contraindications, actions and indications, selected combinations of each herb, comparisons of selected herbs, traditional contraindications, and toxicity. Herbs discussed include da huang, mang xiao, fan xie ye, lu hui, huo ma ren, yu li ren, qian niu zi, gan sui, da ji, hong da ji, jing da ji, yuan hua, ba dou, shang lu.
